Hands down this is my favorite spot in the Hayes Valley. Anytime if someone is craving mexican food or I am showing my friends San Fran I would take them here after exploring the whole Haves Valley neighbourhood.
I highly recommend trying out their Burrito Majodo. I usually get that. Oh and if you like to drink, this place I feel has one of the best margaritas in town.
At my most recent trip, I ended up getting hibiscus margarita and it was too good along with the vegetarian enchiladas. The vegetarian enchiladas was overall pretty tasty and worth a try but if it's your first time I would recommend trying out their burrito over that.
The place has a nice ambience and good vibe to it. On a good day, see if you can get a spot outside, its even better!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Aug 8, 2023
The service is always incredible and the food is yummy but not incredible. The salsa trio is a must! We ordered that, the queso fun didi, the wet burrito and a veggie quesadilla. The quesadilla had a really interesting sauce on it with a lot of warm spices but the veggies weren't that flavorful.

Solid Mexican food in Hayes. Tacos and burritos are both delicious. I've dined in and gotten take out a few times, and have had my take out order messed up twice. Once ended up with a salad instead of the Canadian costeño (shrimp) quesadilla and another time paid extra for guac in my burrito but didn't get any. Both times didn't realize until I got home, so make sure to check your order!

The service was good but the food was below expectations. I had 2 margaritas and the Pastor fajitas. Oddly, the flour tortilla was one large burrito sized tortilla. We opted for a side of corn tortillas which were better. The fajitas were bland and the contained little meat relative to the onions and bell peppers. The rice and beans also lacked flavor and were forgettable. Perhaps I chose the wrong dish but my experience did not leave me desiring another visit to Papito Hayes.

I finally got a chance to stop by Papito Hayes on a Friday afternoon after work! At around 6pm, this restaurant wasn't too full, but by the time my friend and I left around 7pm, there was a wait outside.
We ordered the Queso Fundido to share, I ordered the carnitas quesadilla, and we ended up ordering churros for dessert! The queso fundido was packed with a lot of flavor - you could definitely taste a lot of different profiles of sweet, tangy, and savory. The quesadilla was good, but nothing to write home about. The churros were memorable - probably one of the best churros I've ever had.
My one complaint is that I wish there was a happy hour option here. It's a bit on the pricier end for Mexican food, but the food was good nonetheless!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Feb 25, 2024
Walked down to the Hayes valley with some friends and was delighted to have some really flavorful mexican . Being vegetarian it was fabulous to have quesadillas and tacos with a number of vegetables. The flan was absolutely delicious. Can't wait to visit again :)

As someone who lives in the neighborhood, I can tell you that this is somewhere I go almost daily. The guacamole, the burrito, fish tacos...but most importantly the staff and the margaritas.
They don't advertise this mych, but they also cater and host events and Raul will take care of you.

Absolutely love this place! They were able to seat our large party right away, and the staff took such good care of us! In particular, our server Eddie made my graduation celebration feel extra special, recommending delicious drinks, joking with my boisterous family, and generally being a rock star! The food was scrumptious, the vibes were wonderful, and we will definitely be coming back!

A vibrant Mexican spot in the heart of Hayes Valley with great food and drinks! I love Mexican food, and this has to be one of my favorite spots in Hayes Valley. I've been here several times, and the staff has always been friendly and accommodating even during busy hours.
We always start with the guacamole. I've tried their mimosas and margaritas, and my favorite has to be the strawberry margarita or blood orange mimosa! For food, I've enjoyed the chicken fajitas, pollo taco, and fish taco. If I'm getting tacos, I usually will pair it with a side of rice and beans.
They have a large outdoor parklet area with heat lamps as well as seating inside. They have always been very accommodating with seating requests, even for larger groups during busy hours, which I really appreciate.
Worth noting to anyone visiting that the price point is on the higher end for more casual dining, but it's average and expected for Hayes Valley. Looking forward to my next visit!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
