While exploring Pike Place Market in Seattle, I needed a quick bite. I was a little nervous at first but they line seem to move pretty fast. So I opted for the chowder sampler, which allowed me to try a variety of their creamy seafood soups. All the chowders were pretty solid and the price was good for what you got. Seating is very limited so please don't just sit down chit chatting. They really would love for you to eat enjoy and move on so others can have the same experience. If you're looking for a fast and affordable seafood experience at Pike Place Market, this is the spot!

Excellent clam chowder.
I highly recommend this place. A little tip is to place the order online for pick up. Otherwise you have to wait in line. Having said that, even if you waited in line the line moves quickly. So it's not too bad.
The chowder itself is tasty. Excellent ingredients and quality. Not too rich. Kids loved it as well.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 4055492307Nov 21, 2023
Solid chowder. It's very touristy so be prepared for a line--- but it moves pretty quick.
GLOWS:
-They have an expansive menu with more options outside of just chowder
-There are some seats inside, people rotate in and out pretty quickly, so getting a seat might be an option if you stick around.
-S/o to the staff who selected the throwback r&b music vibes on the day I was in. It created a great mood.
GROWS:
-Be sure to discuss allergens because not all ingredients are clearly listed in the description of each chowder.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - May 12, 2024
Pro tip: when the line is long, order ahead and pick up at the counter in the back of the store. There are tables & benches nearby for you to enjoy your meal. The lobster roll is slightly under $40. The bread was cold and not as fresh as I was hoping. I've tried their chowder trio before and remembered it was yummy. It's definitely a crowd favorite since the lines get pretty long.

This is THE chowder place you go to when you're in Seattle. If you want the true tourist experience, you definitely add this place to your list. Warm chowder while it's raining outside? It really hits the spot. Plus, the line goes relatively fast.
Me and my partner got the 4-sampler, and chose the seafood bisque, market chowder, new england, and smoked salmon! This also came with some slices of sourdough and the crackers. If you want variety, this is definitely a good amount to try and share between 2 people.
All the chowders were really good! I don't think you can go wrong with any, but my partners favorite was the New England one. It was classic, delicious, and just textbook. There's no better way to do chowder than that. My personal favorite was definitely the smoked salmon. It was so salmony and it's definitely thanks to that PNW/Seattle Salmon. Yummy!!
There's lots of seating around Pike Place. If you can't find a place at first, just walk around and you'll probably find a table or a loose bench around somewhere. Personally I feel like that's part of the charm.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 2414011084Nov 5, 2023
A vegan option!! Whoop whoop! An interesting, but tasty way to enjoy a bowl of soup with my fellow foodies who wanted their cowder. It had coconut milk and curry flavors and a ton of veggies. Honestly, if you're into trying something new and love those flavors, I'd suggest trying at least a small size. The line goes quickly. You still get a piece of sourdough and oyster crackers. :)
FYI, if you order to-go, you can take into a small public dining area but not the designated dining area for Pike Place Chowder. No biggie.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Apr 27, 2024
Got the crab and oyster chowder. It was really good on a rainy colder day. The chowder is thick, creamy, and piping hot with descent amount of seafood. It's famous for a reason. Expect to wait in line a bit since it's so popular with the tourists.

I would give this place a solid 4/5. There is a huge line so it goes kind of fast. That's the easy part, the hard part is finding to find a table for a small group of 4. The seating is tight so not much room in between tables. The food was delicious. Prices are what you would expect. Expensive but worth trying.
-New England clam chowder 5/5 - Creamy, it went well with your bread. I liked the slices with the bacon. Plenty of clams.
-Connecticut style Dungeness crab roll 5/5 - it was my first time trying a crab roll and it did not disappoint. It made me crave for more.
-Connecticut style lobster roll - i loved the lobster roll, I just wished there was more crab in it for the price.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Dec 29, 2023
We waited in rain for about 20 mins, the line moved super fast. We couldn't make a decision so we ordered samplers of 4. We got below:
1. Crab & Oyster Chowder: it was pretty good since the chorizo added lots of flavors!
2. Market Chowder: best of the day, sooooo good and I don't even know what they added in there.
3. New England Clam Chowder: very delicious too!
4. Seared Scallop Chowder: i didn't like this at all; super sour.
I also hated the piece of bread given to us with the soup. Maybe think about changing a bakery partner?
Also the lineup was confusing, should have someone to direct the crowd to avoid confusions.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Irisa C.Brea, CA484412Jul 31, 2024
This is the best chowder I have ever had! I tried the New England Clam Chowder & Seared Scallop Chowder, both are phenomenal! The hype is real & this is a must try in Pike Place. I went 3 times on during an extended weekend trip because it was that good. The first time, we waited in the line which moved quickly on a Thursday afternoon and we managed to find a table to eat inside. The other two times we placed to-go orders. Service was excellent for such a busy spot!
