Ordered the chowder to go. Great flavor with bacon. Service was quick even though the line was long. Will definitely do it again, next time I will sit outside and enjoy!

My goodness, that was the best chowder I've ever had in my life!
Beware, there is always a long line that usually wraps around the corner but it moves relatively quickly. Seating is also limited but we were lucky to share a table with a sweet gal we met in line.
What I love is the variety of different chowders to choose from. We opted for the 4-Cup Chowder Sampler for $19.95 and selected the Seared Scallop Chowder, Seafood Bisque, Market Chowder and the Crab, Oyster & Chorizo Chowder which ended up being my favorite out of the three with the Seared Scallop coming in at a close second. YUM! All of them were delish and served as a light filler meal in between sampling the many offerings of Pike's Place.
Those are only 4 of the many other options you have so peruse their menu to see what they have to offer that suits your individual tastebuds. They also offer decadent lobster rolls and sandwiches as well. YUM!
Service was fast and friendly and everyone was in great spirits. I really love the vibe in Seattle and truly miss living in Washington at times. Definitely a must visit spot in Pike's Place Market.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Melissa O.Beaufort, SC5187Aug 13, 2024
The seafood bisque was amazing and the seafood sandwich was really good. Ordering on the app was super easy and fast!!

Nothing less then five stars for this AMAZING shop. My wife and I did a lot of research of where to come when we were spending some time in Seattle and this place came up on every You Tube and traveller's guide. Definite reason why... BEST CHOWDER EVER.
We reviewed a lot of the Youtube videos that people make of the various places to visit and all we heard was about the very long lines and not a lot of tables inside. After finding the place, we went to the back of a 'not so long line' for about 10 minutes, purchased our chowder and sat down at one of their small tables. Very easy and enjoyable experiences.
The menu board is complex. Many diffferent types of chowder and of course their special of the day with whatever fish they are using. Also many sizes and even a sampler of multiple chowders. In a nutshell... This New England chowder was AWESOME. Easily, the best chowder I have ever had. Rich-Creamy-Tasty with plenty of clams and potatoes. Every spoonful I had made me want to take another one. It comes with Oyster crackers and a piece of bread.
Pike Place Chowder is a must visit while in Seattle.

I get it!
When you're an island girl and temperatures don't drop below 70, Seattle weather hits differently. It's perfect chowder weather.
The line wrapped around the corner. Yelp BFF and I walked into the little shopping center and found the hidden chowder take out line. WINNAHS! We asked the cashier how we go about ordering, scanned the QR code with our phone and picked up our order within 5 minutes. We managed to find seats in the designated chowder seating area and thoroughly enjoyed our chowder.
We got the New England clam chowder with a bread bowl to share. Personally, I prefer corn chowder over clam chowder, but this one was pretty good. It was creamy and had hearty chunks of clam that didn't taste rubbery at all. I'm not a fan of sourdough, but Yelp BFF loves it and it does go with the chowder very well. Put this on your Seattle bucket list!
Thanks for reading my reviews! Let me know what I should try next!Helpful 7Thanks 1Love this 11Oh no 0 - Daniel V.El Monte, CAAug 3, 2024
We got the sampler because we couldn't decide on which. We definitely found out why rated #1 across the board. 3/4 were delicious!! Id pass on the tomato one next time. But absolute must try!

The chowder (and I mean this with my whole chest) IS AMAZING WITH THREE EXCLAMATION POINTS!!
Truly is one of (if not THE) best. Super creamy, not too thick, with a good amount of seafood and veggies mixed throughout. I'm not a big fan of clams but I could honestly eat this everyday (we've gone twice in a row so far).
The sourdough is a 50/50. Personally, I really liked the sour sourdough with the chowder, but most of my group thought the sourdough was way too sour.
Try tabasco with the chowder - gave it a nice kick!!
Seating is pretty limited and they are really strict about no holding tables, and so be aware! This location had a pretty long line right at opening, but it went by pretty quick. Server's were nice, and even gave us an extra sourdough slice when they saw my husband and I sharing a large!

Still 5-stars, but after 10 years since the last, I bring some clarity.
Yes, Pike Place Chowder still throws down some mean tasting chowder. Their New England chowder is top notch. I would like to add though that Pike Places' New England chowder is equally good as the one found in Splash Cafe in San Luis Obispo.
With that said, their Seared Scallop chowder is by far the best chowder they have. IMHO, it is distinctly better than their New England chowder. That a win-win because the next time I visit them, I do not need to try their sampler and go straight ahead to a large bowl of their scrumptious Seared Scallop chodwer.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Feb 11, 2013Previous reviewThis by far is the best Clam Chowder I have ever tasted, bar none! We were just thankful we wandered into the Post Alley while touring Pikes Place Market and we found Pikes Place Chowder. The numerous accolades that adorn their walls just reinforced our notion that we had to try their chowders. I had their large Classic Clam Chowder while my wife had a Smoked Salmon Chowder. Both came with a sourdough on the side.
The moment I tasted it, I instantly knew the reason behind their numerous awards. It was so delicious! Words that instantly popped into my head were creamy, silky, and buttery. There is absolutely no shortage of clams in every spoon and no giant cubes of potatoes here as well. It's just the perfect combination of ingredients that make this chowder sooo good. By comparison, the best chowder I had before Pikes Place Chowder was the Splash Cafe in San Luis Obispo and Pikes Place is ahead probably by a car length. The sourdough was good but I must admit I had better sourdough in San Francisco. Overall, and excellent clam chowder that will be difficult to beat. I will definitely come back! - Nov 21, 2023
The most exclamatory 5 out of 5 that I have left in a while goes to Pike Place Chowder in Pike Place market.
First speaking on ambiance, it's right off of the water in Seattle with all the good smelling food from other places. Also what's great is that since there is very limited seating in Pike Place Chowder itself, they allow seating in Rachel's Ginger Beer (which we paired with the chowder which was great).
In terms of service, go for ONLINE ORDERS instead of waiting in the long line, they will have your order ready within 10 minutes of sending it in! This was one of the best decisions we made during our trip in Seattle.
Now to the food: you really cannot go wrong with a classic New England chowder in a sourdough bread bowl in 45 degree Seattle weather. From first bite to last, the chowder was phenomenal with great portion sizes, fresh flavors, and for a fair price. All this to say, please make your way here if you are in the Seattle area!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Nov 17, 2023
The New England Clam Chowder is the bomb! It's creamy, the perfect amount of flavor and nice portions of clams flavored with bacon. Absolutely delicious. I heard the line can be very long. I was quite surprised the line was not longer than I thought it would be being that it was a Friday afternoon. The staff were cool they know how to keep the line moving. I was bummed that they couldn't sell me a single buttered brioche bun because they said it's only for the seafood rolls, that's ok. The soups come with a slice of sourdough bread and oyster crackers.
On the menu:
Small New England Clam Chowder with Oyster Crackers and a slice of sourdough bread.
When in Seattle stop by and get a taste of some of the deliciousness.Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 2Oh no 0
