Came here for a weekday dinner date in their adorable outside courtyard and it was a lovely meal with great service.
We split a "Peak", their set menu of appetizer, salad, 12 pieces nigiri and 2 special rolls, miso soup, and a sweet tamagoyaki egg finale. The quality of the fish was fantastic. The fatty tuna, salmon, and mackerel (not normally a fish I like!) in particular were very tasty. I appreciated that they let a party of two split the set menu, as many places don't let you do that.
We also ordered oysters on the half shell, served with shaved frozen ponzu vinegar ($26 for six). These were fresh, sweet, not too brine-y, with deep cups.
The sauteed geoduck was very unlike any other geoduck I've had (which I *love*). It wasn't just tender, it was flavorful and melt-in-the-mouth and perfectly accompanied by asparagus and shiitake mushroom.
My surprise favorite dish though was the tempura vegetables, which had a super light airy batter and was delicious with the green tea salt. I've had tempura before, and this was some of the best.
The kitchen/waiter timed it so that the food came out evenly spaced. I never felt rushed, and everything came to the table at the perfect temperature.
We loved sitting in the courtyard and enjoying the little hidden space.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 1 - Mar 8, 2024
Kashiba is hands-down my favorite sushi restaurant in the US. The vibe of the restaurant is pretty intimate, and the omakase experience is everything.
We had a reservation for dinner on a Thursday night, the place was pretty busy as usual. We were welcomed and seated pretty quickly. The hostess even provided a little bag hook for my purse
There were 7 total "courses" in the omakase. Servers would provide descriptions for each dish along with recommendations on what to eat first/how to enjoy it best etc.
The omakase included a set of amuse-bouche, a handroll, a wide variety of nigiri, agedashi tofu, and soup a tamagoyaki at the end.
All the fish is super fresh and tender. I love the fact that each piece comes already dressed with wasabi and soy sauce, so there's no need to dip anything before eating. I also always enjoy the other little finishes that the chef includes, like marinating, topping with fresh wasabi, adding shiso, drizzling with citrus, etc. all the extra flavors really elevated each piece while still letting the quality of each fish shine.
With the amazing food, there was amazing service to match. All the servers and hostesses were super gracious and helpful.
Overall, amazing place!! Of course it is on the pricier side, but would definitely recommend. Spoil yourself, you deserve it LOLHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 1 - Dec 23, 2023
Chef Shiro Kashiba opened Shiro's in 1994 and when he left after 20 years he opened Sushi Kashiba in 2015. Sushi Kashiba is located in Pike Place in a small plaza. I've been to Shiro's so I wanted to check out Sushi Kashiba too. We made reservations online and were seated immediately for a party of two.
We both got the omakase ($150 per person) which included 20 pieces of sushi. All of the sushi was so fresh and I especially loved the tuna roll and the uni. Everything was delicious though and we ended the meal with miso soup and an egg dish. For drinks I got the high tea ($18) which was easy to drink and tasted like a vesper.
The ambiance was great and felt fancy whereas Shiro's felt more casual. You can decide which vibe you like but both restaurants were great and the food was amazing in both places.Helpful 4Thanks 1Love this 3Oh no 0 - Feb 29, 2024
Best. Dining. Experience. Ever!
I came here for my 3rd anniversary with my girlfriend with a 7 pm reservation at the sushi bar. Since we've never had omasake before, we had somewhat high expectations coming into the restaurant, and boy, did it deliver.
The staff was incredibly professional and courteous; they handled everything with a smile and great attention to detail! We were asked to order our drinks first before they walked us over to the sushi bar area.
They sat us at the very end of the sushi bar, where not only we were able to see the sushi chefs preparing our food right in front of us but also the entire view of the restaurant! Our sushi chef was Kohta, a very kind gentleman who had been working at Sushi Kashiba for 20 years. In addition to preparing amazing food for us, he did not shy away from having a good conversation with us. We got along with Kohta really well!
The entire 21-piece omakase experience lasted for 1 hour and 45 minutes ($175 per person). It's very hard to choose which ones were my favorite because every piece served to us was incredibly tasty, Kohta even explained the kind of fish and where the fish was imported from. What stood out to me was the uni, because unlike other times I've had uni, the uni here was so juicy that it cleaned out my entire palette!
The best part of our dining experience was when Kohta gave us barrel-aged sake on the house to congratulate us on our anniversary! That was an incredible gesture from him and I will never forget his kindness. The omakase experience at Sushi Kashiba is easily the best dining experience I've ever had and I cannot wait to come back soon!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Feb 29, 2024
Sushi Kashiba is outstandingly fresh!
I went here for my boyfriend and I's 3 year anniversary and we got omakase at the bar. We arrived several minutes earlier for our reservation at 7pm so we were waiting at the door to be seated. Our waiter asked if we wanted anything to drink before we were seated and my boyfriend got hot sake while I got a Ume-ricano.
After a while we were seated and our omakase chef was Kohta. He was extremely polite and a cool chef and I'm glad we got to talk to him while he served us! We got the 21 course omakase and at the end of it I was pretty full. My favorite sushi that Chef Kohta made for us was the fatty tuna, it just melted in my mouth and I've honestly haven't had tuna that good. Other favorites were the geoduck, which was very crunchy and the uni/scallop. The uni was so fresh and juicy, like it came straight from the ocean.
Sushi Kashiba was my first omakase experience and it was well worth it for the end total. (r.i.p our bank account) Definitely would come again! Kashiba really knows how to create an environment where you are comfortable and cozy while enjoying some of the expensive eats of the world!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 1 - Feb 2, 2024
Called a few weeks ahead for a table on NYE and they only had a 5 PM available, but that was expected considering how popular this place is.
My boyfriend and I both went for the omakase, which is prob a better experience at the bar, but was very good nonetheless. Highlights were the blue fin tuna roll, tamago, shrimp, and uni, which was prob the best uni I've ever had.
The biggest downside was that it was freeeeezing in the front dining room (we were sitting pretty close to the door) so would try to request the back next time if possible. Felt like we were put at the walk-in tables.
Would return to try black cod and other dishes!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jan 26, 2024
This is the first omakase I ever tried so I don't have anything to compare Kushiba to but the food was honestly perfect and so was the service. All the staff were very attentative and patient, explaining every piece of the omakase courses and answering my questions about their menu.
I had the table omakase and for an introvert like me, just having the waiters explain the courses was enough. Food was perfect. Loved the toppings on the oysters and the nigiri was so good! Agedashi is not usually a favorite of mine but Kashiba's agedashi was soo tasty~!
The restaurant is not decorated as you'd expect from a Japanese restaurant, it's more like a modern high class restaurant. I felt a little out of place even dressed up.
But all in all, if you're willing to spend the money, Kashiba's a good place to try out.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 1 - Kendra B.Hyattsville, MD191713Aug 1, 2024
This was an incredible experience! My husband and I both did the Peak dinner and were still talking about it a few days later! Everything was so fresh, and our server was amazing- taking us through each course, making suggestions on what to start with/what to expect and checking in afterwards for our feedback. The restaurant is tucked away right off the path of Pike Place with a cozy and romantic atmosphere. 10/10 recommend for a special date night as it is pricey but definitely worth it for the experience!

Arrived to Seattle a bit late for our 715pm reservation at Sushi Kashiba but was seated at the next available table at around 8pm which isn't so bad as we arrived at 750pm. Really appreciate that
Service was spot on, Coats and bags checked, water was filled promptly, drinks poured, dishes explained.
Our server was super knowledgeable about the sake and available nigiri, teriffic job. When you do get Sushi Kashiba menu, there is the omakase option, the sushi set option, and hot foods on the menu, if those don't interest you, definitely ask for the Nigiri menu like we did, the nigiri menu will have around 60% of all the fish available, the rest may be seasonal specials
To start the meal, oddly enough we were served 2 white fish nigiri to start, 2 miso soups, tempura, then the rest of our 7 types of nigiri in that order. Would have preferred to take the tempura first, the selection of nigiri from leanest to fattiest, then the soups to end, but to each their own..
Tables are very close to each other and easy to eavesdrop/overhear first date failures of tech bros trying to get girls lol. Very cringe, and also unfortunately or fortunately attracts those type of guests who don't know anything about nigiri but want to impress a first date with names they can't pronounce and pay for a $400 dinner for 2. It was entertaining for the most part, but like I said, very cringe.
Money for value for me was a bit skewed, as have had some more intimate and fulfilling sushi elsewhereHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
