I had not heard of this place and I passed by all of the time. I wanted Mexican food but I didn't feel like going back to Mission Street nor Valencia Street.
It reminded me of the true AUTHENTIC Mexican restaurants that San Francisco used to have.
      Every thing was on point.
I tried their seafood soup, even though I went for tacos. It was delicious. Mahi mahi, lobster and other seafood. I intended to order chilli but I was glad that I didn't. It was excellent!! With rice, like a gumbo. I wanted more rice, New Orleans style. They had their own variety of spicy or mild salsas. So, this is a restaurant; NOT, made like a taco stand. They have inside as well as outdoor eating. In addition, they make margaritas, I'm not a beer person .
The nachos were so good that I ordered some on my way out of the door.
They checked all of the boxes.
( I felt that) They were kind of leery of me because at night, if Im alone, I dress like I am homeless!! I don't want to be a target for young thugs.

      The Service was kool.

Ambiance was kool, they had flat screens.
It was kind of tight for my motorized wheelchair, I'm a bigg guy.

I came here specifically for Happy Hour, and I think it's one of the best deals in SF!

I loved that everything on the Happy Hour menu was super affordable and portioned really well. I loved their street tacos, and their margaritas were also fairly strong. It does cost extra for flavor (strawberry, mango, etc.), but it's definitely worth it, in my opinion.

It was a little hard to flag down a server since we were sitting outside, but we were able to get a decent amount of drinks and food in before Happy Hour ended.

I was here for happy hour, and it was a good place for happy hour if you are near the area. they have quite a bit of selection for happy hour, both cold and hot dishes, as well as a good selection of drinks.

The sangria we had both red and white wines were very strong. The chips and salsa were good, but they were not free like before. Now you would have to order it.

The food and drinks came out pretty quickly, and the service was good. I will come back here for happy hour with friends if I'm in the area.

Pouring gasoline into a bonfire... This place is the bee's knees!

Great ambiance as soon as you walk in from the workers, the Spanish music being played and the Spanish style wooden interiors with bright pops of color.

Came here for lunch on a weekday and you have your regular crowd of SF workers. The line moves fast so honestly took less than 5 min to order.

Now I've been here probably 3 times but I only proceed to get...

Al Pastor Quesadilla (YES it has pineapple in it). Theirs is one of the best I've had. This item is other worldly. Their al pastor is so flavorful and tender and it comes with thin slices of pineapple. The sweetness cuts through and balances out the saltiness from the meat and cheese in the quesadilla.

ADD CHIPS. First off, the chips are thin but perfectly crispy and salty. It's like 2/3 dollas extra but they give you an assortment of 3 salsas that will knock your socks off. All 3 are great to dip for your chips AND the quesadilla. And all 3 are in the rotation my friend, I finish through all of them by the time I'm done.

Came here at 5pm on a Monday for their happy hour. Got seated right away. Happy hour is until 6pm with last call at 5:45pm.

      Ordered the following:

      Red sangria
      White sangria
      Chips and salsa
      Ceviche pescadero
      Salbutes
      Chicharonnes taco
      Jackfruit taco

= $51 after tax and tip

Everything came out within minutes of ordering. Service was super fast. Drinks were on the sweeter side and gave a slight buzz. The days of unlimited chips and salsa are long gone here at Tropisueno. But at $3 it is still a steal. I love how light and crisp the chips were and you still get 3 different salsas. The ceviche had very tiny pieces of mahi mahi and it doesn't come with chips during happy hour. As for the jackfruit taco, I had the skin of the seed in mine that was inedible. The Chicharonnes taco was unfortunately over fried, with bitter burnt bits. I was surprised to get 2 Salbutes tacos in 1 order for $7. This is cheaper than the $4 single tacos. Unfortunately we found several tiny chicken bones in our tacos.

Amazing happy hour! Stopped by with some coworkers around 5pm to take advance of their happy hour cocktails and small bites. Our wonderful server Cesar shared that although it was not listed on the menu the house margarita actually came in various flavors. We had originally ordered 2 regular margaritas and once he shared that info we ordered 1 more mango margarita before last call. He asked us what other margarita flavor we would have liked to try and brought back watermelon puree to add to our original margarita. This was such a nice gesture and we loved the watermelon flavor.

We also got the nachos and loved the airiness of the chips. We got a ton of drinks and small bites and split between 4 people we only paid $35 each. Definitely will be coming back for our next happy hour!

Personally I consider the San Francisco culinary scene among the best, anywhere. Some of my favorite restaurants can be found in this city, they absolutely have a grip on me. Being that I pop in and out a handful of times per year, it's hard to stray from those favorites. Looks like it's time to drop Tropisueno into the rotation!

Tropisueno is not exactly some best kept secret. This might possibly be the most popular Mexican spot in all of San Francisco. And it is easy to see why. Sure the space is vast and vibrant, but the food is simply phenomenal! The enchiladas are not to be missed. From the sweet notes of the mole to the tangy, herb filled flavorful chile verde. It's enchilada bliss. I wasn't even sure I was a mole person before today, and now I'm afraid I may never find one as good.

Not to be understated, the chips and salsa! 3 delicious dips of various degrees of heat. All showcasing their own personalities, all great in their own right. And the thin crispy chips? Straight up dangerous. Addictive!!

Tropisueno is some instantly one of the best Mexican restaurants I've been too. Yes, including Texas and Southern California. It's that good. How I convinced myself to try this little Mexican eatery, I have no idea. It took everything in me to break away from the norm and make my way to Tropisueno, and now the only thing on my mind is....what took so long?

Being Mexican I am VERY particular about Mexican food and this place was fantastic! Came for their happy hour before going to a show in the City. Happy Hour is from 4-6pm with last call at 5:45. Ordered some steak tacos, the nachos and added carnitas, chips and salsa and the salbutes con pollo all paired with a margarita. The drinks came out SUPER quick as did all of the food! Let me start with the steak tacos, they were delicious! The homemade tortillas really made all the difference and those were superb. The salbutes are kind of like a sope and the chicken on top was marinated perfectly and all the topping complemented each other very well. The nachos were fully loaded and the chips you could tell were homemade, super thin and crispy, absolutely delicious! The service was wonderful, super attentive!

Made it in time for happy hour and ordered a couple sangrias and some guacamole while we waited for dinner service. The drinks were delicious (and potent) as was the super fresh guacamole. The vibe was very festive with good lighting, good music, and colorful decor.

I ordered the huaraches tres cochinitas - thick tortilla "sandals" topped with three kinds of pork: chili verde, carnitas, and al pastor with pineapples. It came with a delicious crème sauce and beans and rice topped with pickled cabbage. Fantastic flavors and textures. All the pork was tender and flavorful, and those tortilla sandals were chewy and delicious. Overall, great meal and great service.

My friends and I stopped by for a weekend happy hour! The overall restaurant is spacious and has both indoor and outdoor seating with heaters. There is a bar that you can sit at as well.

While I only ordered the sangria (red), we did get chips and salsa for the table. The chips came with three different dips. The sangria was nice and sweet, which I really liked. I would hope to try other drinks and food in the future.

The waitstaff was rushing us to pay and leave, even though there were other open tables and no line. It also took a while to get the drinks and food to the table, so it felt like we didn't have enough time to sit and relax at the table.

Overall, I wanna come back during a non-happy hour time and grab some actual food!
