My name is Brian Lawson. I am the Incumbent Republican candidate for the South Carolina House 30 seat. For the last twenty years, I have resided in the Chesnee area of Cherokee County. I have been married for twenty years and have two children. I am a member of Arrowwood Baptist Church, where I have served as a deacon, and RA leader. I have been employed as the Director of Operations at American TransMed, Inc. for the past nineteen years. I have also been the Controller for Shiflett Holdings, Inc. for the past two years. I will continue to use a commonsense approach, stick to my Christian values, and I will work tirelessly to continue being the voice for House District 30. Some of my platform, which has not changed, includes supporting first responders, supporting veterans, supporting education, and supporting better roads. The issues that I have heard repeatedly while out talking with the residents of House District 30 include making our roads better, strengthening our infrastructure, being able to put more of our hard earned money back in our own pockets, and having less government and more freedom. I promise to go back to Columbia and get with my collogues who I have built relationships with over the last two years in office and I will go back to work to tackle these issues.

Economic, Health, Criminal Justice, Education

That I made a positive difference for the citizens of SC District 30 and all of SC.

To work together to better the lives of the citizens of South Carolina.

Balancing growth and fighting federal government overreach.

I believe it is beneficial for state legislators to have experience in government or politics, however I do not believe it should be a requirement.

I believe it is very beneficial to build relationships with other legislators. Working together with like minded collogues fosters more results than trying to work alone.

Government should be fully transparent and held accountable for their actions or inactions.

Scorecards

See also: State legislative scorecards and State legislative scorecards in South Carolina

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
