In the ‘90s, when the shadow of the underworld was looming over Bollywood, one actor risked life, limb, and career by turning down invitations to lavish parties funded by the mafia.

We are talking about Aamir Khan! In a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama, producer Mahaveer Jain (best known for backing movies such as ‘Ram Setu’ and ‘Good Luck Jerry’) revealed that the ‘3 Idiots’ star would refuse to attend parties hosted by the dons - often at great risk to his life.

“In the ’90s, the underworld was ruling the film industry. All film stars had to accept the invitations and visit the Middle East for their parties. But Aamir bhai put his life at stake. He never agreed to it. He is a man of principles.”

Speaking further about the superstar’s insistence on adhering to principles, the producer revealed that the ‘PK’ actor had refused to endorse any brands while hosting the reality TV show ‘Satyameva Jayate’. “For almost 3 years, he did not advertise for 4-5 brands which he used to endorse. This is because he felt that ‘Satyamev Jayate’ is a serious show and an ad featuring him, coming in between the show, would reduce its seriousness. So he decided to let go of all endorsements.”

The producer went on to describe the star as “one of the finest human beings as well as one of the most misunderstood celebrities. " "Sometimes, social media perception and reality can be two different things. Anyone who knows Aamir bhai personally would say the same thing," he told the entertainment portal.
