Darshan fan murder case: Actor's wife Vijayalakshmi writes to police, clarifies his relationship with Pavithra Gowda

    Synopsis

Vijayalakshmi Darshan, wife of Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa, has written to Bengaluru Police Commissioner B. Dayananda to clarify that she is the actor's only legally wedded wife. This follows incorrect reports and official statements that identified Pavithra Gowda, the main accused in the Renukaswamy murder case, as Darshan's wife. Vijayalakshmi emphasized that Pavithra Gowda is merely a friend of Darshan and is married to Sanjay Singh.

Vijayalakshmi, wife of renowned Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa, has officially addressed a letter to Bengaluru Police Commissioner B. Dayananda, asserting her legal status as the actor's only wife. This move follows an incorrect statement made by the police, suggesting that Pavithra Gowda, the main accused in the high-profile Renukaswamy murder case, was Darshan's spouse.

    Vijayalakshmi's Letter

In her letter, Vijayalakshmi wrote, "You made a wrong statement during a press conference, saying Pavithra Gowda is Darshan's wife. This error was repeated by the Karnataka Home Minister and national media, reporting that the Darshan couple was arrested in the Renukaswamy murder case." She requested that the police rectify this misinformation in official records to prevent any future complications for her and her son, Vineesh.

Vijayalakshmi clarified that Pavithra Gowda, although a friend of Darshan, is married to Sanjay Singh and has a daughter with him. She stressed, "While it is true that Pavithra Gowda is a friend of my husband, she is not his wife. I am the only legally wedded wife of Darshan, and our marriage took place at Dharmasthala on May 19, 2003."

    Details of The Case

The controversy stems from the arrest of Darshan, Pavithra Gowda, and 15 others on charges related to the murder of Renukaswamy, a 33-year-old resident of Chitradurga. The investigation revealed that Renukaswamy, a fan of Darshan, had sent derogatory messages to Pavithra Gowda on social media. Following these messages, Renukaswamy was allegedly kidnapped, brought to Bengaluru, held in a shed, and tortured to death.

Vijayalakshmi emphasized the importance of accurate record-keeping to avoid any personal or legal issues for her family. She expressed her faith in the judiciary, stating, "I have full faith in the judiciary and believe the law will take its course."

As legal proceedings continue, Darshan remains in Bengaluru prison, with his judicial custody set to end on July 4. The case has attracted significant media attention.
