Celebrity chef Vikas Khanna's sister Radhika Khanna passed away due to multiple organ failure on Monday at 48.

The 50-year-old said that his sister, who was also his best friend, breathed her last in his arms. She had been battling Lupus, renal failure, and aHUS (atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome, a rare disease that causes tiny blood clots in the small blood vessels of the body, according to American Kidney Fund) - for years.

The grieving brother wrote on Instagram, "My soulmate left me today. March 23, 1974 - Feb 28, 2022... She fought like a champion for years," he wrote.

He said that his sister, whom he fondly called Radha, will continue to stay in his heart, forever. "I’ll miss you & try to fulfil all your incomplete dreams & promises," he added.

Khanna shared a 28-second video with his sister, and used hashtags like #MyRadha and #SistersAreBlessing. In his caption, he wrote, "Even when she was semi-conscious, she kept telling the doctors that she wants to go home soon and protect Viku (her nickname for the chef)."

Friends and members of the film and food industry posted their heartfelt condolences.

"Omg… can't believe it," veteran actor Neena Gupta commented. "Am so sorry… my heartfelt condolences Vikas," Shabana Azmi wrote.

Khanna, who lives in New York, posted a few Stories on Instagram and posts on Twitter on Tuesday too.

He said that learning to live without his sister was a painful thought.

In another post, the Michelin star chef said that we had planned to donate his kidney as he was the perfect match, and was getting ready for transplant.

"Post surgery we both wanted to visit Varanasi. As I was apologising for not being able to take her home, Rabbi Benjamin walks in with this envelope. As Radha couldn't visit Ganga, Ganga Ma visited her," he added.

Khanna also shared that Radha adored actress Madhuri Dixit-Nene. "Radha used to love this video so much. She used to ask me to show it to her again and again. We watched Madhuri's songs to cheer her up every single day," he wrote.

In the 15-second video, the actress said that she has been praying for Khanna's health.

Dixit-Nene's husband Dr. Shriram Nene said he was heartbroken with the demise of Radhika. "Our sincere condolences to you and your family in this time. We are with you. She will live on in all of our memories and watch down form above," he wrote.
