NEW DELHI: The rumour mills are in full swing after reports of WhatsApp developing a dark theme for its desktop users started doing the rounds.

Last week, WABetaInfo, a fan website that tracks WhatsApp updates, revealed that the Facebook-owned company may be testing the beta version of the dark mode feature for WhatsApp Web users.

While the feature may soon be a reality, WABetaInfo shared several glimpse of how the app would look when the dark mode is enabled on the desktop.

The messaging platform is working on the feature in the recent few updates, in order to ensure the best bug-free experience is handed out to the users. However, the release date of the feature is still not known.

Last year, the messaging platform had introduced the beta version for enabling dark mode in Android and iOS devices. The update read, "WhatsApp is rolling out the Dark theme on the 2.20.13 Android beta and 2.20.30.25 iOS beta updates."
