Releasing the Congress manifesto, 'Nyay Patra', today, Congress manifesto committee head and former Union Finance Minister, P. Chidambaram, asserted that "Congress has done it before and can do it again" to come back to power after the Lok Sabha polls.

Chidambaram lamented the denial of justice in the last 10 years, especially in the last five years. "We are not soothsayers, but what we have seen on the ground, we are sorry to report that what we predicted in 2019 has come true in 2024. Institutions are tarnished, privileges of weaker sections are being taken away, and we are moving towards autocracy," said Chidambaram. "While we are unhappy that what we predicted has happened, we are trying to make new promises with our manifesto for a new India," Chidambaram added.

He stated that the party's 'Nyay Patra' manifesto has been based on the 'Work, Wealth, and Welfare' manifesto as there is a dire need for jobs across the country. "Wages are stagnant in the country. The average income of the bottom percentile has remained the same in the last 10 years," he added.

"Congress has done it before, and we will do it again," Chidambaram affirmed.
