Titagarh Rail Systems Limited (TRSL) on Friday announced that it has begun producing trainsets as part of a contract with China Railway Rolling Stock Corporation (CRRC) for the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited's (BMRCL) Phase 2 Yellow Line project.

Production officially began on May 18, 2024, the company said adding that the first trainset is scheduled for delivery in August 2024.

Notably, the 21-km Yellow Line, stretching from RV Road to Bommasandra, is a vital metro corridor aimed at improving connectivity and reduce traffic congestion in the tech hub.

The contract, initially signed in December 2019 between BMRCL and CRRC Nanjing Puzhen Co Ltd, faced several delays, prompting CRRC to seek additional time for delivery.

Following this, CRRC entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Titagarh Rail Systems.

Under the agreement, Titagarh is responsible for producing 34 of the 36 trainsets required for the Yellow Line, with only two trainsets, comprising 12 coaches, to be manufactured in China.
