The show’s name is tied to the original comic book created by René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo. The comic first debuted in 1964 and was the seventh entry in the series. In English, the title translates to Asterix and the Big Fight.

Plot

The official logline for the new series describes the plot. Rome is eager to conquer the last independent village in Gaul, home to Asterix and Obelix. The Gauls' battle superiority comes from a magic potion. However, when the potion master loses his memory, the villagers must defend themselves against Rome.

Direction and Production Team

French actor and comedian Alain Chabat is directing the new Asterix series with Fabrice Joubert. TAT Productions is the animation studio responsible for the series. Chabat has experience with the Asterix universe, having directed Asterix & Obelix: Mission Cleopatra.

Annecy Film Festival Presentation

The announcement was part of Netflix's presentation at the 2024 Annecy Film Festival. Netflix debuted, showcased, or put into competition over 12 titles at the festival. The main team behind Asterix & Obelix: The Big Fight appeared on stage at a special presentation.
