    The case

During the sentencing at the Fremont County Courthouse, Judge Steven W. Boyce expressed the trauma caused by the discovery of the children's bodies and the evidence presented in court. He condemned Vallow Daybell's justification for the murders, citing her descent into a bizarre religious belief system.

The court heard emotional testimonies from representatives of the victims, including Vallow Daybell's surviving son, Colby Ryan, and Tammy Daybell's sister, Samantha Gwilliam, who voiced their immense grief and loss.

Vallow Daybell remained stoic during most of the testimony but wiped her eyes when reminded of her confident claims of being a good mother. The court dismissed her claims of communications with the spirits of the victims.
