Israel-Hamas war: United States vetoes UN resolution demanding humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza again
The United States on Tuesday again vetoed a draft United Nations Security Council resolution on the Israel-Hamas war, blocking a demand for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire. 13 council members voted in favour of the Algerian-drafted text, while Britain abstained. On Feb 17, US envoy to UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield said that the draft resolution could jeopardize talks between the US, Egypt, Israel and Qatar. Since, the United States has proposed a rival draft resolution that calls for a temporary ceasefire in Gaza.
