    Thursday's eruptions sent ash clouds up to 1,200 meters (4,000 feet) into the air, said Muhammad Wafid, chief of Indonesia’s Geology Agency. Photos and videos recorded by the agency from an observation post showed bursts of incandescent red lava with some lightning during the eruptions.

    Authorities have urged people to stay at least 7 kilometers (4.5 miles) from the 1,325-meter (4,347-foot) -high volcano.

    Delhi Police said, "In the early afternoon on 5th May, a matter was reported in PS Hari Nagar from DDU that an injured from Tihar jail has been brought to the hospital. Based on that, the local police reached the hospital and inquired about the matter. It was found that a quarrel took place in Tihar Jail, in which a person named Hitesh alias Happy (said to be linked with Gogi gang) was attacked. The name of the persons who attacked Hitesh have come as Gaurav Lohra and Gurinder. As of now, the confirmation about the identity of the attackers is a matter of investigation. The person named Hitesh sustained injuries and was taken to DDU hospital. Based on the nature of injuries, a case FIR under Section 307 IPC has been registered in PS Hari Nagar and the investigation is being conducted."

    WHO confirms first H5N2 bird flu death

    A person died of bird flu in Mexico in the first confirmed case of a human infected with the H5N2 variant, the World Health Organization said Wednesday. The 59-year old, who died on April 24 after developing fever, shortness of breath, diarrhoea and nausea, had "no history of exposure to poultry or other animals" and "multiple underlying medical conditions", the WHO said in a statement.

    The resident of the State of Mexico was hospitalised in Mexico City and died the same day, the statement said. It was the "first laboratory-confirmed human case of infection with an influenza A(H5N2) virus reported globally", the WHO added.

    Trump's election interference case paused in Georgia appeals court

    A Georgia Appeals Court has paused former US President Donald Trump's election interference case as it takes up his appeal seeking to disqualify Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis (D), but has guaranteed that the trial will not be held before this year's US Presidential elections, reported The Hill. The Georgia Court of Appeals issued a one-page ruling on Wednesday, mentioning a pause until it resolves the appeals from Trump and a handful of his co-defendants seeking to boot Willis from the prosecution over her relationship with a top prosecutor.
