India vs England 5th Test Day 2: Team India started well on the second day of the fifth test with Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill scoring centuries. Later, Sarfaraj and Padikkal added to England's misery by piling up more runs - both scored their half-centuries too. India's lead has now extended well beyond 200.
India at lunch was leading by 46 runs. The Men in Blue lost few quick wickets after that but by the end of the day Captain Rohit will be pleased with the boys as the team has posted 473 runs with two wickets still at hand. The lead is now 255. Kuldeep and Bumrah are also batting.
Yesterday, Yashasvi Jaiswal's dominant performance gave India an edge on Day one of the final Test against England at Dharamsala's Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium.
By the close of play, India stood at 135/1, Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill remaining unbeaten with scores of 52* and 26* respectively, trailing by 83 runs. Earlier, England was dismissed for 218 in their first innings, with Ravichandran Ashwin and Kuldeep Yadav taking key wickets.
Jaiswal and Rohit formed a formidable opening partnership, adding 104 runs, with Jaiswal reaching his fifty in just 55 balls. However, he fell for 57, caught off Shoaib Bashir's bowling. Gill then joined Rohit, ensuring India's stability with an unbeaten 31-run partnership.
England's innings saw Zak Crawley's aggressive half-century, but Kuldeep's five-wicket haul kept them in check. Ben Stokes and Jonny Bairstow also fell cheaply, with Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja adding to England's woes.
Kuldeep's bowling prowess, supported by Ashwin and Jadeja, troubled England throughout the day. Despite a solid start by Crawley and Ben Duckett, England struggled to maintain momentum, scoring just 35 runs in the first ten overs. Duckett's dismissal further dented their progress, ending the first session at 100/2.
