    Karnataka launches online training programme for doctors to treat Covid-19

    Bengaluru: The Karnataka government has launched an online training programme for doctors on treatment protocols for Covid-19 patients. The state’s health department claimed the training programme to be first of its kind in the country and said that it will train 25,000 doctors, nurses, paramedical staff and other healthcare professionals in less than a week.

    The online training programme is a collaboration between Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) and NIMHANS, Bengaluru and covers clinical case management, diagnosis and infection control in health care settings and protocols to be followed across all hospitals for Covid-19, the state health department in a press release.

    “This treatment protocol will come in handy and serve as an invaluable guide to doctors across the country involved in treatment of the Coronavirus,” the health department said.

    The guidelines are likely to help clinicians taking care of the hospitalised patients of Covid-19. “It provides clinicians with updated interim guidelines on timely, effective, and safe supportive management of patients with Covid-19, particularly those with severe acute respiratory illness and critically ill,” according to a press release.
