Synopsis

The government is working to have a group of certified environment auditors who will carry post project clearance compliance monitoring under a green audit scheme. In the era of ease of doing business, the government is assertive yet taking things slow for now on this. The ministry may link it with the ESG perspective for easy, wider adoption.

The industry may have to open its gates to green auditors for an environmental audit of compliance conditions that were attached during the project approval. A green audit scheme is now in the pipeline on the lines of the water and energy audits in the industrial sector and will have incentive-linked benefits for complying entities.
