    The much revered Amarnath Yatra, one of the most sacred pilgrimages for Hindus, is all set to begin at the end of June. Pilgrims take on a trek to the Amarnath Cave, a sacred shrine located in the Himalayas in Kashmir, at an altitude of around 3,888 meters. The main attraction of the Amarnath Yatra is the Shivling made of ice in the Amarnath cave, which is actually a stalagmite formed naturally due to the seepage of water through the cave roof.

The 28th batch of pilgrims left Bhagwati Nagar base camp, with a total of 42 people having died this year.
