    Akasa buys over 300 CFM engines at list prices of $5 billion

    Indian low fare carrier Akasa has purchased over 300 engines from CFM International for its Boeing aircraft order. The deal includes a comprehensive maintenance agreement and a spare engine contract. Akasa CEO Vinay Dube confirmed that the airline is not facing any delays in engine deliveries on its current fleet and expects none in the future.

    India has scope for 130-150 more wide-body aircraft: GE Aerospace

    India's civil aviation market has the potential to add 130-150 more wide-body planes as airlines expand and consider deploying them in dense domestic routes, according to GE Aerospace South Asia CEO Vikram Rai. Currently, there are only about 50 wide-body aircraft in India's fleet of 700 commercial planes.

    Singapore's BOC Aviation signs financing pact for 10 Airbus aircraft with IndiGo

    Singapore BOC Aviation Limited and India's largest airline IndiGo have entered into a finance lease transaction involving 10 Airbus A320NEO aircraft to further expand its fleet, officials said on Wednesday. All 10 aircraft powered by CFM LEAP-1A engines are scheduled for delivery in 2023.

    One third of wide body fleet to have modern seats, inflight entertainment systems by March next year: Air India

    Air India is planning to equip a third of its wide-body fleet with modern seats and inflight entertainment systems by March 2024, as part of its ongoing transformation plan. CEO and MD Campbell Wilson announced the updates in his weekly message to staff. The airline will phase the upgrades, beginning with six A350s this financial year, and continuing to refit the rest of its wide-body fleet over the next few years at a cost of $400m.

    • Air India finalises 800 LEAP engine order to power its new fleet

      Air India has confirmed its order for 800 CFM International Leap-series engines to power its fleet of 210 Airbus A320neo/A321neos and 190 Boeing 737 MAX family aircraft. The aircraft engine manufacturer added that the Indian airline had signed a multi-year services agreement covering the entire LEAP engine fleet.

      GMR Hyderabad Aviation SEZ signs lease agreement with Safran Aircraft Engines for MRO

      GMR Hyderabad Aviation SEZ Ltd has signed a Land Lease Agreement with Safran to lease land in Hyderabad, India for Safran to build and operate an Engine MRO facility for LEAP turbofan engines. Occupying 36,500 sqm of built-up space across 23.5 acres, the facility will have an initial capacity to service 100 engines per annum, gradually increasing to around 300 engines by 2035.

      IndiGo set to take big call on order for 500 Airbus aircraft worth over $50 billion

      The A320Neo family consists of the A320Neo, A321Neo and A321XLR aircraft. The order will be the largest in the history of aviation topping Air India's order of 470 aircraft placed in March. IndiGo has pending delivery of 477 aircraft of the same A320 family by 2030. This order will ensure that the airline gets an uninterrupted supply of new aircraft in the next decade as it expands its fleet.

      The engine dispute at the heart of Go First's bankruptcy filing

      Go First said Pratt & Whitney agreed in 2017 to compensate it for engine "support". The agreement, which ran through 2019, provided unspecified compensation to the airline for days when planes were grounded with engines that needed to be changed or serviced.
