    Indian peacekeeper to be honoured posthumously with prestigious UN medal for sacrifice in line of duty

    Indian peacekeeper Naik Dhananjay Kumar Singh, who served with the UN in the Democratic Republic of Congo, will be honored posthumously with the Dag Hammarskjold medal on May 30, alongside over 60 others. The UN commemorates International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers on the day. India, the second largest contributor to UN Peacekeeping, has lost nearly 180 peacekeepers in the line of duty. Secretary-General Guterres paid tribute to their sacrifices and highlighting the importance of peacekeeping efforts.
