    High Court annuls 65% quota in Bihar; state to move Supreme Court

    The Patna High Court overturned Bihar's government decision to increase quotas for Dalits, backward classes, and tribals from 50% to 65% in state jobs and educational institutions, a move made based on a caste and socio-economic survey. The court's decision, responding to petitions challenging the legislation introduced in November 2023, halts the implementation that would have raised reserved seats to 75% including quotas for economically weaker sections (EWS).
