    Indian economy can grow at 8 per cent till 2047: Krishnamurthy Subramanian

    India's Executive Director at the International Monetary Fund, Krishnamurthy Venkata Subramanian, said India's economy could grow at 8% until 2047 if good policies are redoubled and reforms accelerated. He emphasised the need to strengthen the domestic economy and encourage job creation in the manufacturing sector through reforms in land, labor, capital, and logistics sectors. Subramanian highlighted the potential for India to become a USD 55 trillion economy by 2047 if it maintains an 8% growth rate.

    DMK's K Ponmudy sworn in as Minister by Governor Ravi, a day after SC nudge

    Senior DMK leader K Ponmudy was sworn in as the Tamil Nadu Minister for Higher Education by Governor RN Ravi, following a nudge from the Supreme Court. Ponmudy had lost his post in December 2023 after being convicted in a disproportionate assets case but was reappointed after the Supreme Court suspended his conviction. The swearing-in ceremony took place at the Raj Bhavan in the presence of Chief Minister M K Stalin and other Ministers. The reinduction of Ponmudy ends a face-off between Stalin and Ravi.
