    Nestle India Chairman & MD Suresh Narayanan told ET recently that small-town India too is moving from single packs to multi-packs and from multi-packs to premium brands. "If I can go to Gopiganj and find KitKat being picked up by the consumer by name, that tells me that the premiumisation brand journey has also arrived in those towns," he said.

    The maker of Nescafe coffee and Maggi noodles also called out R&D centres in India, China, South East Asia and Africa markets, where it said it can innovate closer to consumers with agility. The company noted in its annual report that its Munch chocolate in India continues to appeal to consumers through affordable "price point management' and an interactive digital campaign with the IPL.

    Nestle apologies for KitKat packs; says packs withdrawn last year

    “We had withdrawn these packs from the market last year. We understand the sensitivity of the matter and regret if we have inadvertently hurt anyone’s sentiment,” a Nestle India spokesperson said. Certain packs of KitKat depicted images of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra and Mata Subhadra on wrappers.
