    Sabir Barkatali Lakhani, a fugitive associated with the Chhota Rajan gang, has been arrested in Surat, Gujarat, by the Mumbai police. Lakhani had been evading the law for 28 years after being involved in a 1994 robbery attempt. He was a member of the gang and had attacked an on-duty crime branch official during the incident. Lakhani and his cohorts were sentenced to five years in jail, but he managed to escape capture in 1995.
