    Two unidentified militants killed in an encounter in Sopore

    In Hadipora, Sopore district, northern Kashmir, an encounter resulted in the killing of two unidentified militants and injury of a policeman. The militants, identified as Usman and Umar from Pakistan, were killed after opening fire on a joint operation by police, Army, and CRPF conducting a search operation. The injured policeman is reported to be stable. This follows the recent killing of a local Lashkar-e-Toiba militant in Bandipora.

    Bandipora encounter: Slain terrorist was active since 2018

    Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Bandipora district successfully neutralized Umar Lone, a category 'A' terrorist affiliated with the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) outfit. Lone, active since 2018, was involved in various militant activities including recruitment, illegal killings, and expanding the over ground worker (OGW) network. The operation, based on specific intelligence inputs, resulted in Lone's elimination, marking a significant achievement for the forces. Security forces remain committed to maintaining peace and stability in Kashmir, continuing their efforts to dismantle the terror ecosystem in the region.

    Liquid IEDs: New threat emerging in terrorism theatre of Kashmir

    In a recent raid, Jammu and Kashmir police recovered difficult-to-detect liquid IEDs, marking their return to militancy after 17 years. The explosives were found with the help of an Over Ground Worker (OGW) arrested after a gunfight in Pulwama, where Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists Riyaz Dar and Rayees Dar were killed. Riyaz Dar, an A++ terrorist, and Rayees Dar, an A category terrorist, were involved in various terror activities. The police arrested four OGWs and discovered the liquid IEDs hidden in orchards. This raises concerns as liquid explosives can evade conventional detection methods.
