    BJP retains most state incharges but names for UP, Maharashtra, WB not declared

    BJP General Secretary Vinod Tawde will continue as in-charge of Bihar. Former Jharkhand BJP Chief and Rajya Sabha member Deepak Prakash will be his deputy. Similarly, general secretary Tarun Chugh will continue to handle Jammu and Kashmir- where elections are likely in September- and will be assisted by Ashish Sood of Delhi BJP. Chugh will also be incharge of Ladakh while Sood will be incharge of Goa.

    In the 2024 Lok Sabha polls from Pune, More garnered just 32,012 votes and lost his deposit. The seat was won by BJP's Murlidhar Mohol, who was later made a Union minister. More's entry into the Shiv Sena (UBT) is likely to boost its prospects in Pune, which is the state's second largest city.

    NCP-SP approaches ECI to register party to accept funds before Maharashtra polls

    Nationalist Congress Party - Sharadchandra Pawar (NCP-SP) is learnt to have moved the Election Commission of India ahead of the assembly polls in Maharashtra, seeking to register itself as a distinct political party under the Representation of the People Act, 1951 so that it can accept donations ahead of elections.

    Maharashtra's Maha Yuti government has announced several freebies in its last budget before assembly polls, despite Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call to eliminate the revdi culture. The budget includes three free cylinders a year for BPL families, free electricity for farmers, and ₹1,500 per month for women aged 21-60. The state has an expected revenue deficit of ₹20,151 crore and a fiscal deficit of ₹1,10,355 crore.
