These stations will allow them to vote in the elections. Officials have made all arrangements in accordance with guidance from the central government. Imphal West Deputy Commissioner Kiran Kumar stated that while people displaced within the district will vote at their designated stations, special arrangements have been made for those from other constituencies.

      Manipur govt orders use of different types of sirens in vehicles to avoid confusion

      Manipur Commissioner, Home, T Ranjit Singh, in a notification said that the state government has ordered that sirens fitted in ambulances or in vehicles used by any other agencies should not be similar sounding to the ones used by the police and law enforcement authorities as it causes confusion and panic among the people.

      The Meitei ST Demand Committee of Manipur has submitted an affidavit to the Commission of Inquiry in Imphal, clarifying that the request to include Meitei/Meetei in India's ST List was not connected to the May 3rd violence. The Commission of Inquiry is headed by former Gauhati High Court Chief Justice Ajay Lamba.

      The Supreme Court has directed the Manipur government to inform a committee of the steps taken to secure public worship in the state, where ethnic clashes have claimed over 170 lives since May. The committee will provide a comprehensive list of damaged religious structures within two weeks. The court also allowed the committee to prepare a proposal for restoration of damaged or destroyed places of worship.

      The Supreme Court has issued directions for ensuring burial or cremation of bodies lying in mortuaries in Manipur, where ethnic clashes had claimed several lives in May. The bench, also comprising justices J B Pardiwala and Manoj Misra, said the report indicated that 169 of the 175 bodies have been identified while six have not been identified.

      Justice Siddharth Mridul has been appointed as the chief justice of the Manipur High Court, three months after being recommended by the Supreme Court Collegium. The appointment comes amidst ethnic turmoil in the border state. The views of the state chief minister, required for the appointment, were awaited, causing a delay. Additionally, the collegium recommended the transfer of Justice M V Muralidaran of the Manipur High Court to the Calcutta High Court for "better administration of justice", despite his request to continue in Manipur or be transferred to his parent High Court of Madras.
