    Despite exit poll predictions, the BJP failed to secure any seats in the southern state after multiple rounds of vote counting concluded on Tuesday. Candidates affiliated with the DMK and its coalition, including prominent figure Kanimozhi, secured significant victories in declared constituencies. Given the substantial margins, it's highly likely that all other candidates from the Dravidian party and its allies—Congress, CPI, CPI(M), VCK, MDMK, and IUML—will also emerge victorious. Notable figures like Dayanidhi Maran (Central Chennai) and T R Baalu (Sriperumbudur) are expected to clinch their seats as well.

    Erode MP A. Ganeshamurthi, who attempted suicide, dies

    According to police, the 77-year-old Ganeshamurthi had allegedly tried to kill himself after consuming some poisonous tablets on March 24 at his home here. He was rushed to a hospital here and later referred to another private institute in Coimbatore. The Erode Town police has already registered an attempt to suicide case. This will now be altered to a death by suicide case, police said.

    DMK finalises seat-sharing deal with allies VCK, MDMK

    Tamil Nadu's ruling DMK has finalized seat-sharing agreements with allies VCK and MDMK, repeating its 2019 deal. VCK will contest from two reserved constituencies, while MDMK has been allocated one seat. However, DMK is yet to clinch a pact with Congress, a part of the Opposition INDIA bloc. The agreements were sealed at the DMK headquarters, Anna Arivalayam. DMK has already finalized deals with other allies and is aiming to replicate its success in the 2019 elections when the Secular Progressive Alliance won 38 out of 40 Lok Sabha seats in Tamil Nadu.
