The POLIX payload was activated in two stages by January 10, and initial scan observations were conducted around the Crab pulsar, the intended first target. The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has placed 36 OneWeb satellites into orbit using a rocket configuration similar to the one planned for the Gaganyaan mission, which aims to launch a crew of three members into an orbit of 400 km for three days. ISRO Chairman S Somanath said the rocket used in the OneWeb mission had improvements aimed at making it human-rated for the Gaganyaan mission, adding there were plans for a commercial launch of a polar satellite launch vehicle in April.
