Delhi High Court orders immediate closure of coaching centres without fire clearances
The Delhi High Court has ordered the immediate closure of all coaching centres in Delhi that do not possess a no-objection certificate (NOC) from the fire services department, after a report showed that only 67 out of 580 had valid fire clearances. The court said all coaching centres must comply with statutory requirements under the Master Plan for Delhi 2021 and other regulations.

Delhi High court on Friday took suo moto cognizance of Mukherjee Nagar Fire Incident. Vacation bench issued notice to Delhi Fire service, Delhi police and MCD and sought response within two weeks. The bench also directed the Delhi Fire services to conduct fire safety audit and to check fire safety certificates issued or not.

A call about the fire was received at 12.27 pm and a total of 11 fire tenders have been pressed into service, Atul Garg, Director of Delhi Fire Service, said. In a video shared by the fire department, people, mostly students, can be seen being rescued by the firemen through the windows.
