    Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh has confirmed that out of 5457 illegal immigrants detected from Myanmar, 5173 have been registered. The deportation process is underway, with 77 illegal migrants, including 55 women and five children, deported to their country since March 8. The Myanmar nationals fled to Manipur after the Military junta seized power in February 2021. Since then, over 5,000 Myanmar nationals have taken shelter in Manipur, while over 32,000 have taken shelter in Mizoram.

      India sends back 184 Myanmar soldiers who fled to Mizoram

      184 Myanmarese soldiers were sent back to their country after fleeing to Mizoram following gunfights with an ethnic insurgent group. The soldiers had entered Bandukbanga village at the India-Myanmar-Bangladesh trijunction and approached the Assam Rifles. Their camp was overrun and captured by 'Arakan Army' fighters, prompting their flight to Mizoram. A total of 276 soldiers entered Mizoram, with 184 sent back on Monday and the remaining 92 to be repatriated on Tuesday. This brings the total number of Myanmar soldiers fleeing to Mizoram to 635.

      Over 5,000 Myanmar nationals had crossed over to Mizoram till Tuesday following clashes between the Myanmar Army and Chinland Defence Force. The fresh refugee influx started on Sunday. "As many as about 20 refugees are injured. Eight of them were taken to Aizawl for better medical treatment. The rest are in Champhai. One of the injured died on Monday evening," Khiangte said.

      40 Myanmar soldiers who fled to Mizoram sent back

      "Forty Myanmarese soldiers fled to Zokhawthar and approached Mizoram police on Monday, while three others did the same on Tuesday," the official told PTI. He said around 40 Myanmar soldiers were handed over to Assam Rifles, which in turn handed them over to the Myanmar military government at Tamu in Myanmar on Tuesday.
