Getting ready to end the 3-year exile: 5 stocks from diagnostics sector with upside potential of up to 53%

There are some businesses, where only a black swan event leads to sharp growth in profit. Otherwise the underlying nature is such that they don't have any sudden spike in their profits. But there is constant growth. The constant growth could be because of many reasons. It may be because of the fact that penetration of that good or service is very low and over a period of time as it improves, both top and bottom line keep moving upward. It could be because of the movement of business from the unorganized sector to the organized sector. Or due the fact that the “need” of that good or service is such that spending on it cannot be postponed. In the case of diagnostic business, it is all the three, or rather four. The fact is that in 2020, a black swan took place which led to the sudden spike in FY 2021 numbers, but then back to normal growth curve. Now for three years, there has been a painful process of partial normalization of valuation and end of price wars. Has the time come for extreme long term investors to bring them back on watchlist ?

These largecaps have ‘strong buy’ & ‘buy’ recos and upside potential of over 20%

Just because the Nifty has been trading in a volatile mood for the last few trading sessions, the word correction might be heard on the street. The fact is that if one looks at the internal of the markets, there has been an ongoing correction which is taking place which has been largely guided by the numbers which companies have delivered for Q4. Also there is a kind of sectoral correction taking place. The good part is that such kind of sectoral corrections are indicative of underlying bullishness and these corrections are part of any bull run. The only thing any investor needs to make sure is that in any corrective phase, bias when making fresh investment should be toward large cap stocks as there is a possibility that they would see less damage in corrections which are stronger in nature due to global or macro developments. ET screener powered by Refinitiv’s Stock Report Plus lists down quality stocks with high upside potential over the next 12 months, having an average recommendation rating of “buy” or "strong buy". The screener applies different algorithms for all BSE and NSE stocks.

In the fight between bulls and bears, these set of companies always win: 4 stocks with upside potential of up to 21%

Recently the finance minister, Nirmala Sitharaman spoke about the risk of unchecked explosion of future and option trading. Before that, there was a SEBI study, which mentioned that 90 % of the individuals who trade in future and options ( F&O) end up losing money; only 10% are able to make profit. But there is another side to the story. First is that trade volumes in this segment are only going to rise. Second, what is the common between both the losers and winners? They both brokerage to their stock broker and also pay transaction fees to the stock exchange. So, who is the constant and permanent winner? The stock exchange and the stock broker. Yes, policy makers will bring in more checks, but the hard fact is that those checks will only be partially effective for a short period of time as the turnover in the F&O will continue to rise for the foreseeable future. One can control anything, but not the hope and greed on the street.

PSU Banks stocks: Stay bullish, hedge a bit to avoid narrative induced selling; top 7 PSU banks with upside potential of up to 36 %

While every sector has witnessed a re-rating in the last couple of years. The re-rating can be due to two reasons. whether headwinds have gone away because of government policy push and clean up or the sector has recovered due cyclical reasons. In the case of PSU banks, which have seen strong re-rating in the last one year, there is a mix of both reasons. The government cleaned up and strengthened the regulatory system. Also that overall economic growth has seen a sharp recovery which has helped in credit off take. The answer lies in hedging for the banks you own and just avoid listening to noise which will remain high till election results are announced.

Do Dr Lal Pathlabs' results indicate a turnaround for the sector? 4 stocks from diagnostic space, 3 with upside potential of up to 31%

Some sectors have a company which can be called as the bell weather of that sector and that is why its results of that company probably are indicative of what is happening in the sector. In case of the diagnostic, it is probably the Dr Lals path labs which would fit the criteria, it has national presence, large network, present in both physical and digital segment. So when the quarterly numbers come and they show improvement on many fronts then probably it is time to have a look at them more seriously and see if there is a possible turnaround building in the sector. This became even more important because these stocks had gained extremely high valuation and also popularity in terms of both retail and institutional participation. But then for close to two years, they have been a strong under performer in a strong bull market. Does this result mean that finally in terms of price war for customer acquisition over and now the valuation readjustment will start in the upward direction.

Why touchy-feely consumerism is here to stay and also thrive

The surge in e-commerce once signaled the demise of brick-and-mortar stores, but a notable shift is occurring as D2C companies expand offline. The trend extends beyond smartphones to FMCG and banking, with consumers favoring physical stores for premium items. Retailers are adapting by enhancing store sizes to provide immersive shopping experiences.

These midcap stocks with ‘Strong buy’ & ‘Buy’ recos can rally over 25%, according to analysts

The Q4 earning season is clearly showing its impact on parts of the market. Given the fact that the valuations are high, if there is a slight miss by the company on its expected numbers, the street is being uncharitable in its reaction. On the face of it this might appear to be negative but the fact is that the street is also rewarding the stocks where there is either a positive surprise in Q4 earnings or any of the problems are getting solved. Like in the case of some companies which are seeing the lifting of restrictions by the RBI. So the street is at equilibrium level where it clearly shows that while there is no dearth of money for performers but at the same time if the valuations are high and there is no major positive surprise then it is probably time to shed some weight. Keep an eye on the market breadth in coming days and on the mutual fund numbers which are going to come today to figure out what will be the trend of mid-caps in the short term. These largecaps have ‘strong buy’ & ‘buy’ recos and upside potential of more than 20%

There are clear indications that some amount of volatility will be back on the street. First phase of the volatility is normally led by large cap stocks, and even today large caps from different sectors are witnessing pressure. But the other fact is that recovery in the market is also largely led by the large cap and they stabilized much before other segment of the market. The pattern of the sectoral correction is visible. Yesterday, it was banking which led the correction. Today it is metal stock which is leading the correction as the bank stabilizes. Internal re-rating? 7 stocks from financial service sector with upside potential of up to 26%

In the correction that markets saw in the last four trading sessions, the financial sector stocks, right from banks to other players also declined. But if one looks at the magnitude and the internal breadth of the sector it was much better as compared to a month back when the market correction was started by HDFC bank. There was a bit of profit booking in the PSU bank space, but once again after a small corrective move, things were back with a strong intraday recovery. The way things are panning out in the industry with regulatory tightening taking place, there is very likely that we might see a divergence in performance of different segments of this sector which has the highest correlation with the GDP growth. Better balance sheets and strong franchise are likely to be the differentiating factors. The factor which is largely technical in nature is the shareholding patterns that will also impact the performance of the stocks from this sector.
