    BMW case: Cops fumble for answers as court questions application of one BNS provision

    The Mumbai police found themselves in a challenging situation on Monday with the application of a provision of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita in a BMW-hit-and-run incident, one of the first high-profile cases under the newly-introduced law that replaced the British-era Indian Penal Code. Early Sunday morning, a woman was killed and her husband injured in Worli when their two-wheeler was hit from the rear by a BMW allegedly driven by Mihir Shah, the son of Palghar Shiv Sena leader Rajesh Shah.

    PC Jeweller Ltd announced on Sunday that Punjab National Bank has approved a one-time settlement for its outstanding dues. The approval was detailed in a regulatory filing by the company. "Punjab National Bank, the third largest bank after State Bank of India amongst consortium banks of the company in terms of its exposure, has conveyed its approval to the One Time Settlement (OTS) proposal submitted by the company."
