    Committee will submit UCC draft to govt on Feb 2: Uttarakhand CM Dhami

    Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced that the draft of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) will be submitted to the state government on Friday. A bill on the code will be introduced in the assembly session starting February 5 for its implementation in Uttarakhand. The committee, headed by former Supreme Court judge Ranjana Prakash Desai, was formed in 2022 by the Dhami government specifically to prepare the UCC draft for Uttarakhand. The BJP government aims to fulfill its promise of implementing the UCC in the state, making it the first state to have one.

    Uttarakhand assembly presents supplementary budget of Rs 11,321 cr

    Uttarakhand Assembly has tabled a supplementary budget of around Rs 11,321 crore for 2023-24, with the largest allocations for drinking water and infrastructure development projects. The budget includes Rs 3,530 crore for revenue expenditure and Rs 7,791 crore for capital expenditure.

    Dhami takes oath as CM in presence of PM, Union Ministers and BJP CMs

    Eight MLAs were inducted as ministers in the new cabinet on Wednesday. There are two new faces -- Chandan Ram Das and Saurabh Bahuguna -- in the cabinet. The Speaker of the outgoing assembly Premchand Agarwal has been made a cabinet minister this time. Five of the eight ministers were part of the previous cabinet. Three Brahmins, three Thakurs (including CM Dhami), two SCs and one from the Vaishya community have found place in the new cabinet.
