    Five dead, 1,000 homes destroyed in PNG earthquake

    A magnitude 6.9 earthquake in Papua New Guinea has killed at least five people and destroyed around 1,000 homes. The earthquake struck early Sunday morning, causing floods in dozens of villages along the Sepik River. East Sepik Governor Allan Bird reported that around 1,000 homes have been lost, and emergency crews are still assessing the impact.
