CII, Nasscom inks MoU to skill one lakh candidates by 2026
As per the memorandum of understanding signed between the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Nasscom on Monday, candidates will be skilled, reskilled and upskilled across seven identified sectors that include banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI), manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, green jobs, hospitality and live sciences.

Women outnumber men in skills training
The Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana, launched in September 2023 by PM Narendra Modi, has seen a significant participation of women, who make up over 95% of the trainees. Among the 0.35 million individuals trained so far, 68.76% are women. Despite enrolling 1.04 million individuals, the scheme falls short of its 3 million target. Replying to a question over jail reforms during his tenure in Tihar, Director General (prisons) Sanjay Baniwal said, "We have started skill development programme with the help of Urban Development Ministry inside the prisons. Under this programme, around 700 inmates have got the job in hotel industry and 1,200 are getting training to get the job in hospitals."
