    People eligible for Aadhaar can enroll using iris scan if fingerprint unavailable: Government

    The statement comes after Minister of State for Electronics and IT Rajeev Chandrasekhar intervened to ensure the enrolment of a woman, Josymol P Jose, in Kerala who could not get enrolled for Aadhaar as she did not have fingers. A team from the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) visited Jose at her home in Kumarakam, Kottayam district, in Kerala, the same day and got her Aadhaar number generated, the statement said.

To ensure the security of Aadhaar data, UIDAI advises using their official channels for updates, such as the UIDAI website or Aadhaar app. Aadhaar card holders are urged to be cautious and not share confidential details with anyone.

    How to download masked Aadhaar card

    In masked Aadhaar only the final four digits of the 12-digit Aadhaar number will be visible in the document, protecting the subscriber's identity by masking the first eight digits. This ensures that the card cannot be misused even if it is lost or misplaced.

    During the past decade, Aadhaar number has emerged as a universally accepted proof of identity of residents in India. More than 1,100 government schemes and programs, including 319 run by the central government, use Aadhaar based identification for delivery of services. Besides, many financial institutions like banks and NBFCs use Aadhaar to authenticate and onboard customers seamlessly.
