    Civic bodies ramp up preparations to deal with waterlogging as IMD predicts heavy rain in Delhi

    Delhi civic bodies are intensifying efforts to address waterlogging following heavy rains that inundated the city, causing significant disruptions. With the IMD issuing an "orange alert" until July 2, measures include increased manpower and equipment deployment. The NDMC has stationed additional pumps and super suction machines in flood-prone areas like Golf Links and Bharti Nagar, while monitoring vulnerable zones through CCTV surveillance. Similarly, the MCD has activated 24x7 control rooms, deployed mobile pumps, and completed drain desilting. Authorities remain on high alert, ensuring continuous monitoring and swift response to mitigate further impacts.

    The deceased were aged 8 and 10 years old and were residents of Som Bazaar, Gamri, in the New Usmanpur area. Heavy rains lashed parts of Delhi-NCR for the second consecutive day on Friday, causing waterlogging, traffic jams, rain-related accidents, casualties, and injuries that prompted the government to take measures to tackle the situation. The national capital and adjoining areas also received rainfall on Saturday.

    Ayodhya: UP govt suspends six officials after road cave-ins, waterlogging on Ram Path

    The Uttar Pradesh government has taken action against six officials from civic agencies due to their negligence, following incidents of road cave-ins and waterlogging along the newly-built Ram Path in Ayodhya. After heavy rains on June 23 and June 25, approximately 15 bylanes and streets adjacent to the Ram Path were flooded, affecting homes as well. Sections of the 14-kilometre road also collapsed in more than a dozen places.
