    Kristen Stewart joins 'The Challenger' series as Sally Ride

    Kristen Stewart is set to make her series debut in 'The Challenger,' portraying the role of Sally Ride, the first American woman in space. The series, developed by Kyra Sedgwick's Big Swing Productions and executive produced by Steven Spielberg's Amblin Partners, follows NASA's 1978 class and Ride's journey from astronaut to member of the Rogers Commission investigating the Challenger explosion.

    India has the highest number of female pilots in the world. As per the Indian Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Indian female pilots make up 14% of its pilot workforce, compared to a global average of 6%. That's not all. IAF started inducting female pilots in non-combat roles more than 30 years ago in 1993, while combat role recruitments began in 2016.

    Modi also emphasised that any space mission in India is not possible without the stellar contribution of women scientists. The prime minister bestowed the "astronaut wings" on the four pilots - Group Captain Prasanth Balakrishnan Nair, Group Captain Ajit Krishnan, Group Captain Angad Pratap and Wing Commander Shubhanshu Shukla.

    Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi introduced four astronauts-designates from the Indian Air Force's Aircraft and Systems Testing Establishment (ASTE) in Bengaluru. The astronauts-elect, Group Captain Prashanth Nair, Group Captain Angad Prathap, Group Captain Ajit Krishnan, and Wing Commander Shubhanshu Shukla, were bestowed with astronaut wings. Additionally, ISRO chairman S Somanath dedicated three important projects to the nation.
