Neha Kakkar was a contestant on the 2nd season of the singing reality TV show Indian Idol in 2005. She failed to impress the judges and exited the show at an early stage
She made her debut as a playback singer in the Hindi film industry with the 2008 movie Meerabai Not Out
Kakkar began her acting career with a role in the 2010 movie Isi Life Mein
She gained prominence as a playback singer through the song Second Hand Jawani, a part of the 2012 movie Cocktail
Her 2013 song Dhating Naach from the movie Phata Poster Nikla Hero was also widely appreciated
In 2014, she collaborated with the music composer Amit Trivedi to create the chartbuster London Thumakda for Queen and gave hits such as Sunny Sunny, from Yaariyan, and Manali Trance, from The Shaukeens, in collaboration with Yo Yo Honey Singh
In 2015, Kakkar lent her voice to popular songs such as Aao Raja from Gabbar Is Back, Tu Ishaq Mera from Hate Story 3 and Tukur Tukur from the movie Dilwale which was composed by Pritam
In 2016, she sang hit songs such as Kar Gayi Chull, Kala Chashma and Naina which were part of the movies Kapoor & Sons, Baar Baar Dekho and Dangal respectively
Some of Kakkar’s next successful projects were Badri Ki Dulhania, Main Tera Boyfriend with co-singer Arijit Singh, Dilbar, Coca Cola, The Hook Up Song, Dheeme Dheeme and Garmi
Kakkar has been one of the judges on Indian Idol since its 10th season which premiered in 2018. The show’s currently in its 12th season
