BHOPAL/JABALPUR: State government submitted before a division bench of MP high court that it was reconsidering the issue of allowing private schools to raise the fee of students and sought sometime before it could file a reply to a petition, challenging decision of the private schools to raise the fee of students and deprive them of online education in the event of non-payment of fee.
Following this, the bench of chief justice Ravi Vijay Kumar Malimath and Justice V K Shukla deferred hearing in the case for two weeks.
The petition has been filed by president of Jagrit Palak Sangh Samiti, Indore, Chanchal Gupta. The petition is being heard with some other petitions on related issues in the court.
On November 4, 2020, the MP high court had restrained the private schools from charging any fee other than the tuition fee.
The petitioner said that the private schools have increased the fee of the students in the current session despite the court order. He argued that until and unless there is complete physical attendance of students in schools and online classes are put off, an increase in fee is not justified.
In the previous hearing, the court had directed not to deprive students of online classes in case their fee is not paid. In the hearing on Friday, the state government asked for some time before the court is informed of its decision on the issue of increase in the fee of students, which the court conceded and fixed the hearing of the case two weeks later.
