Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, who is lodged in Tihar Jail, has lost eight kilograms of weight since his arrest on March 21, the AAP said on Saturday. Additionally, a medical board of the AIIMS has recommended including "paratha and puri" in his diet. The Delhi High Court on Friday put an interim stay on the bail granted to Kejriwal by a trial court in a money-laundering case linked to the now-scrapped excise policy of his government.

The judge said that the full truth cannot be uncovered from witnesses who have changed their statements. Instead, it must be based on solid evidence legally obtained by the investigating agency. The court noted that the ED failed to provide direct evidence linking Kejriwal to the crime proceeds. However, some associates of the CM might be involved. The ED also couldn't explain how they concluded that Rs 1 crore from Vinod Chauhan was crime-related or how the Rs 40 crore found during the investigation was linked to the crime. The judge questioned how long Kejriwal should remain in custody without solid evidence until the full amount is recovered.

A city court granted bail to chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday in a money laundering case tied to the now-scrapped Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22, while noting that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) seemed biased in its actions. However, Delhi high court bench stayed the bail order on Friday following an ED appeal. The ED had argued that "investigation is an art and sometimes one accused is given the 'lollipop' of bail and pardon to coax them into revealing the truth behind the crime." Special Judge Niyay Bindu questioned this assertion, saying that if investigation is treated as an art, it could lead to individuals being unjustly implicated and detained by selectively using or excluding evidence. This situation, according to the judge, suggests bias on the part of the investigating agency.

Bharatiya Janata Party MP Manoj Tiwari on Friday said that the Aam Aadmi Party should learn to respect the court's decision after the Delhi High Court stayed the trial court order granting bail of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in a money laundering case related to alleged excise policy "scam".

"The fight against corruption will continue. I have full faith in the court and the investigation agencies. AAP should learn to respect the court's decision. Bail is not a relaxation," Tiwari told ANI.

"We believe that the accused will be punished and the innocent will be spared," Tiwari added.

On Delhi Minister Atishi sitting on an indefinite hunger strike over the water crisis, he said, "AAP leader and Delhi Minister Atishi is protesting against the water crisis. It was the duty of the Delhi government to provide water to the people. She is protesting against her own government..."

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's wife Sunita Kejriwal on Friday lashed out at the Enforcement Directorate for challenging her husband's bail order in the high court, accusing it of acting as if the AAP national convener was the "most wanted terrorist in India". The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) cited the Rouse Avenue court order granting bail to Kejriwal, saying it had demolished the case of the ED and demanded that the BJP should apologise to the party and Kejriwal.

The central probe agency failed to furnish direct evidence linking Kejriwal to the proceeds of crime in the money laundering case against him, a Delhi court has said while ordering his release on bail on Thursday.

On the ED's plea, the Delhi High Court granted interim stay on the trial court's order giving bail to the chief minister. The high court also issued a notice to Kejriwal seeking his response on ED's plea challenging the trial court's June 20 order by which he was granted bail.

Speaking in south Delhi's Bhogal, where Delhi Water Minister Atishi began an indefinite hunger strike to press on her demand for getting more water from Haryana, Sunita Kejriwal, in an apparent attack on the BJP, alleged that dictatorship in the country has crossed all limits.

"It was only yesterday your chief minister got bail. In the morning, the order was supposed to be uploaded (on court's website). Even before the order was uploaded, the ED approached the Delhi High Court. This happened as if Kejriwal is the most wanted terrorist in India," Sunita Kejriwal said.

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut on Friday launched a scathing attack against the Centre alleging the misuse of the central investigation agencies and said that Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal was arrested without any evidence against him.

"Kejriwal always defeats Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This is why he got arrested during the time of the general elections in the country. There is no evidence against him. There are no documents that go against him. Kejriwal was kept in jail for about three months that too in an unlawful way. Many more ministers are in Tihar jail. Hemant Soren too is in jail," said Sanjay Raut at a press conference in Maharashtra's Mumbai.

Earlier, Raut took a jibe at the government formed by the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) at the centre and said that it is not stable and can fall anytime.

After the Delhi High Court stayed the trial court order granting bail of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in a money laundering case related to alleged excise policy "scam", Bharatiya Janata Party leader Shazia Ilmi on Friday slammed the "double standards" of the Aam Aadmi Party and said that be it bail or jail, it is a judicial proceeding.

"When the bail was granted in the trial court, ED said that their arguments haven't been heard... If the bail is granted then AAP sees it as relaxation. When the bail order is stayed through the same judicial system, then they blame the BJP for this. Be it bail or jail, it is a judicial proceeding... AAP has to quit such double standards," Ilmi told ANI.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was set to be out on bail for the second time after being arrested in the alleged liquor policy case. But before the order was even uploaded, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) hastily moved to the Delhi High Court against the trial court order and sought an urgent hearing.

The Delhi High Court on Friday reserved its order on the plea filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for a stay on trial court order granting bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The court has stayed the bail of the AAP chief till the final order is pronounced. The order will be out by Monday or Tuesday. Meanwhile, the high court has asked the counsel to file the written submissions by Monday.

Singhvi said the ED argued for 3 hours and 45 minutes before the trial judge."This matter lasted for five hours (before the trial court). Nearly 3 hours 45 minutes were taken by Mr. Raju and then trial judge is faulted because she does not repeat every comma and full stop," he said.

ED in its petition has said that the June 20 order granting regular bail to Kejriwal was passed without granting adequate opportunity of hearing to the ED and without considering that in light of the facts of the present case where all courts up to Supreme Court have given judicial imprimatur to the fact that the offence of money laundering has been committed and hence regular bail in light of the mandatory twin conditions under Section 45 of the PMLA could not have been granted.

"ED's intention is that the relief that has been granted should not be executed in any way...by Monday or Tuesday the court will give its order on the stay application and as per that order, it will be decided when Arvind Kejriwal will come out," said AAP Legal Cell State President Sanjeev Nasiar

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Sanjay Singh criticized the BJP-led government after the Directorate of Enforcement challenged the trial court's decision to grant bail to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the Delhi High Court regarding the excise policy case. Singh pointed out that the lower court's order stated that the ED is operating with a "biased attitude".

Singhavi said that ED is still treating the high court order as the last word. Though it was on question of arrest, not the bail. Singhavi said If the High Court order was final as suggested by the ED, why did Supreme Court liberty to approach the trial court for bail. And the Supreme Court reserved its order on the legality of the arrest, Singhvi said. Singhavi said that the law is very clear on the grant of bail and cancellation/ reversal of bail is different

ED counsel S V Raju said that the trial court’s order does not address the ED's argument that Kejriwal is indirectly responsible for the money laundering offense committed by the Aam Aadmi Party.

Holding a constitutional position is a reason for bail? Does that mean every minister will get bail just because they are in office? You're a chief minister, so you get bail?: ED

There must be a finding that he is not guilty, but there isn't one. This is a strong case for canceling bail: ED

"What kind of order is this? There is clear evidence. The individual claims that Kejriwal demanded ₹100 crore. This is a clear instance of proceeds of crime," said Additional Solicitor General SV Raju.

It is now evident that the agencies, on the directives of people above, tried to put leaders inside jail by naming them in fictitious cases. They succeeded in some and failed in some case. I believe that this (Lok Sabha election results) mandate also has a message that stop the vendetta politics. Now, I think Hemant Soren should be released immediately.

Arvind Kejriwal's wife Sunita on Friday said that dictatorship was on the rise in the country after the Enforcement Directorate moved Delhi HC against the bail given to the Delhi CM by the Rouse Avenue court in a money laundering case linked to the alleged excise policy scam. After visiting Rajghat, Sunita addressed party workers. Sunita said that questions must be raised on ED which moved HC against the bail even when the bail order was not uploaded.

"Never heard of such a thing before. The bail order of the lower court has not been uploaded yet, we also haven't received it. When the order itself hasn't come, what is the high court hearing? With what ED approached the court? and on what basis is the court saying they will hear the matter? What is ED challenging...BJP's central govt is taking this as personal enmity. This is not the way a central agency should be working"

The Delhi high court will start hearing the plea filed by the Enforcement Directorate against the bail given to chief minister Arvind Kejriwal in a money laundering case linked to the old excise policy. Earlier in the day, the HC had paused Thursday's bail order given by the Rouse Avenue court. Earlier in the day, the HC had said that order granting bail to Arvind Kejriwal shall not be given effect to till it hears the ED's plea.

"Look at the hooliganism of Modi government, the trial court's order has not come yet, even the copy of the order is not available, then which order has Modi's ED gone to challenge in high court? What is happening in this country? Why are you making fun of the justice system Modiji, the whole country is watching you?"

ASG SV Raju, representing the Enforcement Directorate (ED), informed the Delhi high court that the trial court's order has not been uploaded yet, and therefore, the conditions set by the court are unknown. He further said that the probe agency has not had sufficient opportunity to oppose Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal's bail application. Urging the high court, ASG SV Raju requested that the order be stayed and the matter be expedited for early hearing.

The Delhi high court has agreed to an urgent hearing of the Enforcement Directorate's plea challenging the bail granted to Arvind Kejriwal. The high court stated that the trial court's order will not be implemented until the it reviews the case.
