CHANDIGARH: The Punjab Police on Saturday observed the 64th Police Commemoration Day at Punjab Armed Police (PAP) headquarters in Jalandhar to pay tributes to 1,797 state police officials, including three this year, who have sacrificed their lives since September 1981 fighting militants and criminals.
Paying tributes to police martyrs, DGP Gaurav Yadav said the force had a glorious history of valour and sacrifice.Later, interacting with the mediapersons, the DGP said the flagship project Sadak Surkhya Force (SSF) would hit the roads soon. The SSF will help save lives by reducing road accidents. It will also work towards streamlining traffic movement.TNN

Contract-based employees' families receive Rs 50 lakh in case of accidental fatalities. Kapoor paid homage to police martyrs on Police Martyrdom Day and highlighted the sacrifices made by police officers in upholding law and order and protecting citizens. He also praised the leadership of the chief minister and home minister in implementing welfare initiatives.
Three police personnel from TN died in line of duty in last one year, says DGP
Three police personnel from Tamil Nadu were among the 188 police and paramilitary personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty in India from September 2022 to August 2023. The Director General of Police, Shankar Jiwal, paid tribute to the fallen officers during the Police Commemoration Day parade in Chennai. The day also honors the sacrifice of 10 Central Reserve Police Force and Indo-Tibetan Border Force officers who were ambushed by the Chinese army in Ladakh in 1959.
