Wedding chef falls for Oz job carrot, loses Rs 22 lakh

KARNAL: A Kurukshetra groom whose wedding feast he had cooked burnt Indri block's Udana village confectioner Mohan Lal's dream of working in a foreign restaurant while making him lighter by Rs 22 lakh.
A few days after the wedding, groom Harsimran Singh Virk of Lakhmandi in Kurukshetra had called up Mohan Lal with the offer of joining his claimed restaurant in Australia and told him to get his passport made.In the May and June of 2022, the cook emailed him all the documents but had his visa refused after five months.
The conned man said: "He made me meet some people at an office in Sector 34, Chandigarh, and charged me Rs 22 lakh." They confined him to a Malaysian hotel for nine days, where on June 1, 2023, he found 10 other conned men like him before the groom sold him a fake Australian visa and ticket for Rs 22 lakh.
