2,021 mosquito breeding spots identified in Chennai
A total of Rs 3,87,500 has been collected as fine from residents for letting dengue-causing mosquitos breed on their premises.
CHENNAI: After heavy rain lashed the city on December 4, the Greater Chennai Corporation has identified 2021 mosquito breeding spots, with the highest of 784 being in Thiruvottiyur in North Chennai.
Manali, also in North Chennai, had 294 mosquito breeding spots in both residential and open spaces, while 220 were identified in Adyar, 164 in Madhavaram and 162 in Tondiarpet.

A total of Rs 3,87,500 has been collected as fine from residents for letting dengue-causing mosquitos breed on their premises.
The corporation has urged people not to allow freshwater storage and not to keep containers and pots open.
