SILCHAR: Police seized 1,700kg heroin valued at Rs 8.50 crore and arrested a suspected drug peddler from the Dholaikhal area in Cachar on Thursday.
According to sources, acting on a tip-off, police conducted an operation at Dholaikhal and apprehended a suspected drug peddler with 139 soap cases containing heroin. The seized drugs were worth around Rs 8.50 crore.
CM Himanta Biswa Sarma praised Cachar Police for the successful operation on his ‘X’ handle.
“DRUG BUST AT DHOLAIKHAL WORTH Rs 8.5 CR! 139 soap cases with suspected heroin weighing about 1.700 kg were seized by the @cacharpolice today based on their strong intel network. Well done @assampolice #AssamAgainstDrugs,” Sarma wrote on his social media handle.
