Hyderabad student gets 3-yr jail for gadget use in exam

A student at JNTU, Hyderabad, received three years imprisonment for using a bluetooth device in an engineering exam. Another accomplice is at large. The student used gadgets hidden in his clothing to cheat with help from an outside source.

HYDERABAD: A student, who was caught using a bluetooth device during his engineering semester exam conducted by the JNTU, was awarded three years of imprisonment by a court in Nampally. Another accused who helped the student in this conspiracy is at large.
The student used ear piece and hid a mobile phone in his undergarments. He made phone call to another accused outside the exam hall.
The second accused read out the answer to the student who reproduced the same in his answer paper. When the special invigilators suddenly came into the class room, they found him murmuring. When they tried to reach near him, the student dropped the answer sheet and started to run. Later, he was chased and caught by the college staff.
When he was checked, the staff recovered different gadgets from his ear, vest and underwear. Later, police who registered a case booked by him under AP Public Examination (Prevention of Malpractices and Unfair means) Act,1997.
However, police are yet to trace the co-accused who was sharing the answers over the device to the student.
All the gadgets recovered were also marked as evidence by the police. After conducting trial, the 20-year-old student was convicted by Nampally court he was awarded three-years-imprisonment. The lower court later granted him bail and he can appeal the verdict in the Appellate court.
