Tutor sentenced rigorous imprisonment for raping minor girl student in Kurukshetra
KURUKSHETRA: The fast-track special court for rape and POCSO Act cases, of additional district and sessions judge (ADSJ) in Kurukshetra, on June 5, sentenced 20 years of rigorous imprisonment along with fine of Rs 1.12 lakh to a convict Aakash Mehta of Pehowa.
Kurukshetra deputy district attorney (DDA) Pradeep Malik said that on January 18, 2021, a person of the district in his complaint told that his minor children including son and daughter went for tuition to convict Aakash Mehta’s place.

“Later, the complainant stopped sending his children for tuition to Aakash’s place. The complainant’s son told him that the convict used to give them sedatives and he had raped his daughter. The convict had also threatened the kids of dire consequences if they disclosed the ordeal to anyone”, said DDA Malik.
He said a case was registered against Aakash at Pehowa Sadar police station and the investigation was done by a lady police officer.
Malik said the minor girl’s statement was recorded before the court besides her counselling from the Child Welfare Committee, adding that during the investigation, charges were framed against Aakash.
He said based on the evidence the fast-track special court of ADSJ sentenced Aakash Mehta 20 years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) under Section 6 (punishment for aggravated penetrative sexual assault) of the POCSO Act with fine of Rs 60,000 and in default of fine payment, he would have to undergo additional RI of 18 months. The court also sentenced 7 years of RI to Aakash under Section 77 (intoxicating by means of drugs, liquor, tobacco or psychotropic substance) of the JJ Act with fine of Rs 50,000, and in default, he would have to undergo additional RI for 12 months. DDA Malik added that the court also sentenced 2 years of RI under Section 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC with a fine of Rs 2,000 with provision of additional RI for four months in default of fine payment.
